Hear Dr. Muhammad Afnan reading from two of the Báb’s most important works by clicking on the following audio links. We are particularly fortunate to have this reading from a descendant of the family of the Báb who, of the small circle of experts devoted to the study of these writings, is one of the most profoundly learned and thus able to read these texts aloud.

Muhammad Afnan was born in Yazd, Iran, in 1930. After obtaining a doctorate in veterinary bacteriology and infectious diseases from Tehran University, he taught at Tehran University for 20 years before taking early retirement. He left Iran in 1979 and later settled in Canada where he joined the Department of Infectious Diseases at McMaster University and aided in establishing the Persian Institute for Bahá’í Studies in Dundas, Ontario. From 1989 to 2002 he served in the Department for the Study of the Sacred Texts at the Bahá’í World Centre. (This brief bio slightly revised from MNP, p. 288.)
